Notes
- The Public Performance Measure (PPM) is the share of trains planned that arrived at their final destination within 5 minutes of the timetable, or 10 minutes for long distance operators. A train cancelled in full or in part, or that missed a planned stop, fails. It was the industry's main measure of punctuality until March 2019.
- PPM measures something different from the on-time figures in Train punctuality: those count a train as on time at each station stop, within 59 seconds. PPM is almost always the higher of the two, and the gap between them has changed over time, so the two can't be joined into one series.
- The ORR publishes a figure for Great Britain from April 2019. Before then it publishes PPM only for each train operator, so the line calculated from operators combines their figures, weighting each by its trains planned. From April 2019 to March 2026, where both exist, it is within 0.2 percentage points of the ORR's figure in every quarter; the ORR's operator table is not refreshed for revisions to past figures.
- Heathrow Express (from 1998) and Hull Trains (from 2000) have no figures for their first five or six years, so they are left out of those quarters.
- The ORR proposes to stop updating its operator table after January to March 2026, so the calculated line ends there.
- Fewer trains ran during the COVID-19 lockdowns from March 2020. Figures for the current financial year are provisional.
