Findings
Notes
- Territorial emissions are those produced within the UK's borders, including carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and four fluorinated gases, converted to carbon dioxide equivalent by how much each warms the climate. They leave out emissions from goods made abroad and bought in the UK, and from international flights and shipping.
- The figure for 2025 is a provisional estimate, made before the full inventory; the final figure follows about a year later. The whole series is revised each year as methods improve.
- Land use, land use change and forestry can take carbon out of the atmosphere as well as release it, so it can be negative.
